Nearly 40% of adults, that’s 2 adults in every 5, are considered obese. And the numbers keep on rising. Obesity levels are also on the rise in the younger population, with 18.5% of youth categorized as obese. These are some frightening statistics when you consider the risks of serious disease and health issues associated with being overweight. These include high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea, gallbladder disease, cancer, and in many cases, death. Keeping fit and healthy is more important than ever, but it’s also far more difficult, as we find ourselves living in an age where everything is about speed and convenience. And when we add speed and convenience to the food industry, we get unhealthy fast food. To help you make the best choices with what not to eat, we decided to take a look at the worst foods out there. The ones that turn a waist line in to a coastline and will have you pilling on the pounds.

At number 15 is Pizza Hut’s Meat Lover’s Personal Pan Pizza. We all enjoy a pizza but this one is packed full of sodium and saturated fat. The thick bread base contains more calories than the entire daily recommended intake, with a total of 12 grams of fat, 4.5 grams of which are saturated fat. A single slice contains a whopping 210 calories, and let’s face it, no one eats just one slice of pizza!

At number 14 is a venti White Hot Chocolate from Starbucks. Let’s face it, it’s not only belly bloating burgers and fries, or pizzas that pack a punch. There are also some drinks that hit the ‘no go’ list. Sorry to all you Starbucks lovers, but this drink is 3 times your daily maximum intake of sugar at 76 grams, not to mention 21 total grams of fat, and 13 grams of saturated fat. The Venti White Hot Chocolate tops the scales at 563 calories.

At number 13 is Burger King’s Big King Sandwich. More than half of a day’s worth of sodium, this double decker sandwich is packed full of carbs and calories. Three hours at the gym would barely dent the effect this sandwich has on your calorie intake. 37 grams of total fat, 8 grams saturated fat, and 659 calories.

Sticking to Burger King, let’s see how their drinks fair. At number 12, we’re bookmarking the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shake. This sugar packed, hand spun milkshake features pieces of cereal mixed with sweet cinnamon-flavored syrup. 19 grams of fat, of which 11 grams are saturated, a whopping 113 grams of sugar, and wait for it…a cool 780 waist enhancing calories. It will take a lot of dancing to work off this shake!

At a glance you could be forgiven for mistaking this next dish as belonging on the healthy list. At number 11 is Kentucky Fried Chicken's Pot Pie and it looks like mum’s home cooking but this heart warmer could also be a heart stopper. Lashings of cholesterol, 45 grams of fat of which 37 grams are saturated, and a cool chicken licken’ 790 worth of calories.

Taco Bell is at number 10 with their Cinnabon Delights. Balls of fried sugar dough filled with sweet sauce is not how your doctor would suggest you start the day. The total fat content is 53 grams, and there’s a frightening 59 grams of sugar. These little beauties will rack up a hefty 930 calories on the clock. Stick to your oats, or if you do indulge in Cinnabon Delights, you’d do best not to eat for the rest of the day.

There’s always room for another burger, or is there, with Carl’s Jr. Hardee’s Baby Back Rib-Topped Thick Burger. At number 9 is this third pound of baby back ribs, smothered in tangy sauce. 57 grams of fat, with 18 grams saturated fat, it’s a monster meal that clocks the counter at 1,070 calories.

Wendy’s…we all love a Wendy’s from time to time, but if you want to stop buying new trouser belts, then keep this off your eating list. At number 8 is Dave’s Triple burger. An entire day’s worth of sodium, there are 72 grams of fat of which 30 grams are saturated fat. A date with this dish will load you with a tidy 1,090 worth of calories.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What they don’t say is that you should pack more than half your daily calories in right when you wake up. And that’s exactly what you’ll be doing if you bite into our number 7 choice, McDonald's Big Breakfast with Hotcakes. Buttermilk biscuit, savory sausage hot off the griddle, fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns and golden brown hotcakes. Sounds delicious, but could be deliciously deadly with 56 grams of fat, 19 grams of saturated fat,  and a tummy splitting 1,090 calories.

Well here’s somewhat of a surprise. Number 6 is a dish served at Chopt: The Panko Fried Chicken Salad. Yes, a salad with romaine lettuce and avocado, with the addition of panko fried chicken, croutons, fried onions and Wisconsin blue cheese, not to mention the dressing, puts this misleading dish at 1,120 calories, with 82 grams of fat, and 20 grams of saturated fat. It goes to show, if you’re counting the calories, you need to do your homework on all the dishes you order.

It’s back to the shakes for number 5 with Dairy Queen’s Oreo Hot Cocoa Blizzard. If you love cookies and cream flavor then this will be hard to turn down, but check out the details before taking it on. 109 grams of sugar, which is around 4 times the daily recommended dose, as well as 43 total grams of fat, with 20 grams saturated. This unsuspecting milkshake is a heart stopping 1,040 calories.

Sonic’s SuperSONIC Bacon Double Cheeseburger is slotted in at number 4. With plenty of sodium and lashings of mayo, it’s definitely a double meal. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, or is it calories? Well, take a look this meat patty beauty, topping the scales at over 1,239 calories. Add to that 35 grams of fat! If you’re eating this burger, you’ll be sure to see your belly bulge.

Believe it or not, there’s a burger to top the Sonic! Hardee’s Charbroiled 2/3 lb Monster Thickburger is our number 3. More than a day’s worth of sodium, a momentous amount of fat at 95 grams total, with 35 grams saturated fat, and nearly 75% of your daily calories at a stomach churning 1,329. Not a regular for your menu if you want to live long.

We’ve so far had a couple of burgers, so what about those fries to go along. At 2, let’s talk about Five Guys Large French Fries. These starchy potato sticks look harmless at first glance, but incredibly they have nearly an entire day’s worth of calories. They’re a whopping 71 grams of fat, with 14 grams of saturated fat. Shockingly,  you’ll be clocking up an incredible 1,474 calories with a paper cup of these snacks.

When we think of Italy, we think of art, opera, fine wines and yes…the Large Italian Meatball Sub by Quiznos. It’s our number 1. This artery-clogging heart stopping delight has 150 percent of your daily value of sodium, 81 grams of fat, 28 grams of saturated fat, and weighs in at a staggering 1,530 calories… wow!
